Wednesday 4/4

> I’ll start off in Orlando where Toronto won a tough, closely contested game. The news here is that T.J. Ford and Chris Bosh had a running verbal spat that lasted the second half of the 3rd quarter. Weird for such supposedly close friends…

In a related story, Darko Milicic got thrown out of the game late in the 3rd quarter for arguing with an official over his third foul in seven minutes. I also witnessed Tyrus Thomas & Richard Hamilton get ejected for jawing in the 4th quarter in Detroit. Enjoy your one game holiday Rip!

> In Washington the Wizards season continues to swirl the drain. Not only did Gilbert Arenas show up late to shoot around, but then he goes and gets his left knee landed on by Charlotte’s Gerald Wallace. Ouch! Oh yeah, and the insult to injury is the Bobcats sweeping the Wiz in a home & home.

Do you think Michael Jordan is happy that Walter Herrmann, a free agent signed six weeks before the season, is out performing his #3 draft pick Adam Morrison? The kicker is, they both do the same things on the floor, it’s just that Herrmann does them all better. So what took coach/GM Bernie Bickerstaff so long to give Walter Adam’s minutes???

> Philadelphia’s Andre Miller put another nail in New York’s playoff coffin with his 16-footer with seven seconds to play. Nice!

> New Orleans/Oklahoma City’s post season chances lived to see another day as Bobby Jackson heated up in overtime. The Hornets are limping to the finish line though. Tyson Chandler aggravated his bruised right big toe with 4:34 left in the 1st quarter and did not return. Then Desmond Mason got elbowed in the right cheek by Seattle's Chris Wilcox midway through the 2nd quarter and was done for the night. I’m not even mentioning that Chris Paul sat out the extra session because of his left foot…even though he was one assist away from his first ever triple-double. Gutty performances all around.

> Golden State is now 10-4 since 3/5 and steamrolling toward a playoff berth. Jason Richardson has been on fire from 3-pont land in the last three games shooting 51.5% (17-33). And coach Don Nelson moving Al Harrington to center and Monta Ellis into the starting lineup has paid off HUGE. If Denver or one of the LA clubs slip up, Nellie’s crew is going to be right there to swoop in and steal their spot.

> Can you say double hangover games? Houston and Utah both lost to squads they normally would beat easily after their battle for home court Sunday.

> My Lakers continue to hurtle toward the abyss at warp speed. What can you do when your PG choices in crunch time are either Sasha Vujacic or Jordan Farmar? Well that’s what you’re left with when you decide not to play Smush Parker & Shammond Williams in the 4th quarter. I don’t blame LA coach Phil Jackson though. Our crappy PG situation is all GM Mitch Kupchak’s fault.

> If you are at all interested in NBA basketball, or maybe even could be someday, I recommend watching Phoenix at San Antonio tonight on TNT.
